This market town lies within the Vale of York between the City and the Hambleton Hills, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. It is a perfect introduction to Herriot Country. The town’s centre boasts a large market square surrounded by Georgian buildings. There are village greens with flowers and seats, and a selection of shops, pubs and cafes. There is also a community centre with a fitness suite. Close by are many villages and lanes making it ideal for cycling. York, Ripon, Harrogate and Knaresborough and Yorkshire’s old famous abbey sites are all within easy reach.
