Bradford-on-Avon is a picturesque, historic former mill town. Sitting beside the River Avon and Kennett and Avon Canal, it is the ideal springboard for boat trips. There are numerous beautiful walks, including strolls through the historic town centre. The surrounding countryside has myriad possibilities for longer walks, and cycling. In the evenings there is a great range of high-end restaurants, as well as more informal dining. The stunning city of Bath, with so much on offer for all tastes, is easily accessible by train or car. From the striking architecture of the Georgian terraces to the celebrated Roman Baths and wonderful abbey, and with ample opportunities to eat out or indulge in a bit of retail therapy, you are spoilt for choice. Alternatively, you might drive to nearby 13th century village of Lacock, or to Castle Combe, and enjoy discovering the numerous “gastro” pubs in the region.
