Bird Boxes

Blue Tits At Nest Box

Along with feeders and bird baths a bird box is high up on the list of a bird’s basic needs. As well as providing a home for birds to bring up their families in spring and summer, a bird box will also provide shelter in the winter.

There are many different styles of bird box to choose from to suit all kinds of gardens, from the traditional to the more modern. Different bird boxes will also attract different species of birds so when choosing a bird box think about the types of birds that already come into your garden and the types you would like to attract.

Once you have chosen your bird box you need to decide where to site it. You will also need to carry out some routine maintenance on it to keep it free of disease and ensure you prevent predators disturbing or even moving into your nest box.
