John heard his first cuckoo this morning at about 9.30 in Henfield in Sussex. He listens out for them every year and feels that spring hasn’t really arrived until the arrival of the cuckoo.
Vera from Earley in Berkshire has heard a cuckoo in the early morning in the High Trees Wood for the first time in nearly 20 years.
On the 4th May Maggie heard a cuckoo along the River Thames between Buscot and Kelmscott, near Lechlade, Gloucestershire.
Neil from Lymm in Cheshire heard a cuckoo yesterday morning.
“I thought I heard one a couple of weeks ago but couldn’t be sure. However, the call was clear yesterday so I’m pleased to report spring is definitely here in the North West.”
Lisa heard a cuckoo yesterday afternoon in Fencott, Oxfordshire.
“I haven’t heard a cuckoo in the area for years so I was so pleased that they are still around. Perhaps I should keep my ears more open in the future!”
Graeme heard his first cuckoo of the year on April 17th in Runcorn, Cheshire.
He said, “I listen out for the first cuckoo of spring every year and although I often hear them I’m yet to spot one. They are very elusive birds”.
Gregg heard his first cuckoo at the RSPB Lodge reserve in Sandy, Bedfordshire yesterday morning.
