Once a hub of shoe production, the community today offers a variety of stores, taverns, and a parish church with a striking orange stone exterior. It’s about 5 miles from Ayr, the capital of Burns Country, which has a plethora of shops, restaurants, and other attractions. Culzean Bay, with its magnificent castle and wonderful grounds, is only 12 miles distant, while Galloway Forest offers good hiking options within easy reach.
