Spotting Scopes

If you want to take a really close look at birds then you will need a spotting scope. Spotting scopes are more expensive than binoculars but for long distance bird watching they will make a real difference. You will be able to distinguish marks on birds that cannot be seen with binoculars and are essential for identifying similar looking birds from afar.

Bird Watching Looking Through Scope

You will also need a spotting scope if you want to take photographs of birds by digiscoping – a technique using a digital camera and a scope to take long range shots.
