Goathland, a picturesque village nestled in the North York Moors National Park, is located just beyond the park’s northern boundary. Around it, the untamed broad moorlands offer wonderful hiking and sheep-herding opportunities. The television show Heartbeat has made the village a household name. The North York Moors Steam Railway station is located near the bottom of the settlement. Travel to Whitby or Pickering by train and take in the scenery as it snakes its way over moorland. With Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay, and Scarborough all within reasonable driving distance, Goathland is an ideal location for a family vacation.
