Lymington is on the west bank of the Lymington River at the western end of The Solent, near the New Forest National Park. Regular ferry service to the Isle of Wight makes it a popular sailing destination. The town has many boutiques, craft shops, and restaurants. Lymington is surrounded by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, from the New Forest’s heathlands and ancient woodlands to the 5-mile-long coastal nature reserves that end at Hurst Castle, built by Henry VIII in 1554. Lymington is a great base for exploring the New Forest, Isle of Wight, and Hampshire coast.
