Machynlleth is a tiny market town nestled in the undulating hills of Mid Wales. In addition to the traditional street markets held every Wednesday, the town’s streets spread out from the 19th-century clock tower and offer a decent mix of specialty stores, taverns, and cafes. The town has two art galleries and is home to the Museum of Modern Arts, Wales, which hosts concerts and lectures in its 400-seat theatre and exhibits the work of a variety of international artists. Machynlleth is only ten miles from the shore, making it an ideal location for enjoying the area’s excellent walking, cycling, fishing, and rock climbing.
