Glaisdale is a tranquil village on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, near the Esk Valley. The settlement contains a post office, a butcher (famous for his pork pies) and a hotel/pub with restaurant. Whitby and the shore are 9 miles away, as are the charming moorland villages of Hutton-le-Hole, Lastingham and Thornton Dale, as well as the market town of Pickering. For something a little more sedate, visit Saltburn by the Sea, a beautiful Victorian beach resort. The North York Moors Railway ends at Grosmont, where you can take a steam train trip amid beautiful moorland landscape.
