At the western end of The Solent and the southern border of the New Forest National Park, the beautiful market town of Lymington is located on the west bank of the Lymington River. In addition to being a popular sailing destination, there are frequent ferry connections to the Isle of Wight. You might treat yourself to a dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants, or you can browse the town’s many unique boutiques and craft stores. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounds Lymington, ranging from the heathlands and historic woodlands of the New Forest to the coastal nature reserves that stretch about five miles and stop at the shingle spit where Henry VIII’s Hurst Castle, completed in 1554, is located. From Lymington, it is possible to go to the New Forest, the Isle of Wight, and the Hampshire coast.
