Situated in Wharfedale, the village of Burnsall is set on a bend in the River Wharfe and is perfectly framed by the dramatic backdrop of Burnsall Fell. Full of traditional constructions, the 12th Century church is thought to be the oldest building in the village whilst the school is one of the oldest in the country. Burnsall’s most famous feature, however, is probably the stone bridge supported by five arches. With a small shop selling sweets and ice-cream as well as a pub and hotel and a tea-room, the village provides most amenities that visitors will need. Nearby Grassington and Skipton offer a wider selection of shops for anything extra visitors may need. The area is the setting for numerous popular cycling trails and bridleways, making this an excellent holiday destination for walkers and those looking to explore this beautiful region.
