Ambleside is a great starting point for exploring the central Lake District, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a few minutes’ drive away. Windermere, Lake Windermere and the hamlet itself have a lot to offer visitors of all ages and interests, with a wide variety of activities to choose from. At Waterhead, the parkland overlooks the lake and a little beach, while a stroll in the opposite way, following Stock Ghyll through the woods, leads to the enchanting waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force.
