A charming, rural community called Pontywaun can be found between Cwmbran to the east and Pontypridd to the west. The Morbitorium Museum, which is located in the hamlet and attracts a large number of visitors each year, as well as the availability of places to visit like Waunfawr Park in adjacent Crosskeys and Cwmcarn Forest in Cwmcarn, are its most notable features. Food options in the village include The Castle Inn and The Philanthropic Inn, both of which serve traditional pub fare, as well as The Fork and Tune and Tandoori Haven, which are located just north in Cwmcarn.
