Wells is named after its springs in the grounds of the Bishop’s Palace. Adjacent is the 12th century cathedral. Close by, Vicars Close’s market square offers shops, boutiques and restaurants, and a bi-weekly market. The surrounding AONB provides scenic footpaths and landscapes, a centre for caving and rock climbing, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves, are also great days out. With the Somerset Levels, as well as Glastonbury an easy drive away, this city makes an ideal touring base. With much to see and do, there is something for everyone here.
