The market town of Burnley is situated close to Pendle Hill, a popular place for walkers, which was notorious for the Pendle Witches and the trials of 1612 in Lancaster. It is within reach of the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The National Trust managed Gawthorpe Hall is in the nearby town of Padiham, Towneley Hall Museum and Park are close by or you may wish to explore the town’s waterways with a walk or boat trip along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The Singing Ringing Tree Panopticon is only a short drive away on the nearby moors. The market towns of Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley are nearby, and Haworth which was made famous by the Bronte sisters. The award-winning Woodland Spa and Bertrams Restaurant are only 2.7 miles away where you can relax and sooth those aching muscles after walking and enjoy excellent fare. The Kettledrum Inn Cliviger and the Hare and Hounds at Briercliffe are good eating places nearby but it is always best to book before to avoid disappointment.
