Nestling amongst the beautiful unspoilt countryside of the Severn Valley, the ancient riverside town of Stourport-on-Severn is a popular tourist destination, with many black and white timbered buildings and an abundance of amenities and activities. Many individual shops, traditional pubs, restaurants and cafes can be found in and around the town. Visitors to Stourport may choose to take a cruise along the river, enjoy a day’s fishing, take a ride on horseback or bike along the many lovely bridleways, or stroll through the heather clad hills, woodlands and heathland of Hartlebury Common, a 200 acre SSSI Nature Reserve on the outskirts of the town. The market town of Bewdley is just a short drive away and has been described as ‘the most perfect Georgian town in Worcestershire’. Bewdley boasts riverside pubs and cafes, antique shops and craft galleries, all surrounded by beautiful countryside. The area has some of the best attractions in the country, with the Severn Valley Steam Railway, West Midlands Safari Park, Cadbury World and the Black Country Living Museum, numerous National Trust properties and many colourful events throughout the year including riverside festivals, regattas and open air concerts. Also well worth a visit are the picturesque town of Ludlow with its magnificent 13th century castle, Ironbridge Gorge Museum and the medieval Wyre Forest.
