Sets within the National Park, the village of Horton-in-ribblesdale is composed of traditional Dales buildings, a lovely Norman church, a village shop and two pubs. The surrounding countryside is an ideal location for fell walking, close to the famous Three Peaks Walk, Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The famous Settle to Carlisle Railway passes through the village and crosses the Ribblehead viaduct – completed in 1870. The nearby market town of Settle is home to a selection of pubs and restaurants whilst the market square features a historic three-storey building with shops on two levels and houses above. The Victoria Hall serves as a cinema on Fridays and Saturdays and offers other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the towns of Skipton and Malham.
