About where you'll be staying

The village of Sawrey is two miles from Hawkshead on the eastern side of Esthwaite Water. Sawrey consists of two separate hamlets – Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey – Near Sawrey is famous for Hill Top, the farmhouse where author Beatrix Potter wrote many of her books and now a museum owned by the National Trust. Far Sawrey is close to the ferry point on Windermere and has good walks nearby, including Claife Heights and in Grizedale Forest. It’s also a great base for enjoying watersports, fishing and fell walking.
