Montgomery sits just one mile from the Wales/England in Mid Wales. The town is popular with tourists and offers a good selection of individual shops, pubs and restaurants, including the Michelin star The Checkers restaurant. Visit the ruins of the 13th century Montgomery Castle, which enjoys stunning views over the town’s timber-framed houses and cobbled streets and across Wales. A few miles to the south is the historic market town of Bishop’s Castle, while the wider area is wonderful for walking and cycling through picturesque countryside. You can venture further into Wales towards the Snowdonia National Park, or cross the border to explore the Shropshire Hills AONB, while the coast at Cardigan Bay is easily accessible.
