Porthmadog is a town resting on the Glaslyn Estuary and offers a great base for exploring the Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) and the Llyn Peninsula. The town boasts a good deal of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés, and is not far from Morfa Bychan Beach, known locally as Black Rock Sands. Nearby attractions include the Italianate village of Portmeirion, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Criccieth Castle, and the sailing centre of Pwllheli.
