Terence Laheney head a cuckoo at 7 o\’clock this morning on his farm at Croft on Tees, North Yorkshire.

On the 18th May Jacqui McDonald wrote to tell us, “I heard one at Redgrave IP22 1RQ on the 7th May, another on the 11th at St Neots Caravan site and today at Diss Golf Club. Hope they all found a mate.”

Michael Fletcher heard his first cuckoo of the year walking around Blakeney Woods in the Forest of Dean on the 14th May.

He added that they usually arrive around the 12th May although none were heard last year.

Roger wrote to tell us that he heard a cuckoo at 5:30 this morning in Kineton, ten miles east of Stratford on Avon.

He added that it was a few days earlier than in recent years and in 2013 it was mid May before he heard one.

Sue Sturges wrote to tell us that she was pretty certain she heard a cuckoo singing in the woods at the back of Ludshott Common, near Hindhead, Surrey, today, at about 3.55pm and again at 4.05pm.

She said, “this is an area of special interest to bird watchers, but I’m not sure whether anybody else has reported it to you yet!”
