Wonderfully situated between the North Pennines and the Lake District is the lovely market town of Penrith, once known to be the capital of Cumbria. The town offers its visitors an excellent selection of welcoming pubs, restaurants, a museum and entertainment, as well as the scenic Millennium Trails which will take you on a tour of the historic streets, where you will find delightful cottages, small shops and beautiful sandstone buildings, it is a visual feast from start to finish. The city of Carlisle is nearby and well worth a visit, home to a remarkable castle, cathedral, museum and fantastic golf course.
