Marske-by-the-Sea was originally an old fishing village, and today offers a selection of local shops and pubs, which cater for all the family, plus safe, sandy beaches, sand dunes and fishing boats. Places of interest nearby include Captain Cook’s birthplace, the mining museum, and the Zetland Lifeboat Museum. Within easy reach is a horse riding centre, the scenery of the North York Moors and the numerous inland villages and fishing villages including Staithes and Runswick Bay. The old Victorian spa town of Saltburn is just 3 miles away and it’s an easy drive to other seaside resorts such as Whitby.
