The charming, picturesque coastal village of Guileen is in a quiet and beautiful setting, and has a long and colourful past. Its nautical traditions and stunning views are what the residents of Guileen take their pride in. Guileen, on the south east coast of Cork, is home to one of many delightful beaches that are found on the coast between Roches Point and Youghal. The village has a pub (the Guileen Arms), with an active sea angling club and regular music sessions. Nearby Whitegate has two pubs, one which serves food, and a Chinese restaurant, along with a state of the art playground that the kids will just love. Each year, Whitegate hosts the Cork ‘Small Boat Festival’, a popular angling competition where each contestant brings their own boat. The competition sees over 40 species of fish caught each year. The area offers some stunning walking routes for you to stretch your legs, including the well-known People’s Path, which links all the seaside villages along the coast. For the adventurous there are sea kayaking and surfing lessons on Inch Beach 2 miles east of Guileen. Visit the bustling city of Cork, historical Cobh, Fota Wildlife Park or the seaside resort of Youghal, all within easy reach.
