Helmsley is a prestigious market town in Upper Ryedale, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park. Helmsley has its own 12th century castle, and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are nearby. Helmsley also has an arts centre with films and plays, and a summer outdoor pool. The delights of the North York Moors, York, Scarborough and Whitby are all easily accessible.
