Marske-by-the-Sea is a tiny, lively coastal community with long, wide stretches of sandy beach. Originally a fishing community, it now has a variety of local stores and pubs catering to all members of the family, as well as safe, sandy beaches, sand dunes, and fishing boats. Captain Cook’s birthplace, the mining museum, and the Zetland Lifeboat Museum are all local points of interest. A horse riding centre, the spectacular scenery of the North York Moors, through which a steam train line passes, and other pretty inland villages and fishing villages, like Staithes and Runswick Bay, are all within easy distance of this tiny village.
