The small village of Prenteg stands at the foot of the Moel Ddu Mountain, close to Tremadog Bay, and is surrounded by the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. Historically a slate and copper mining community, the village is today renowned for the regular sightings of Wales’ only nesting Osprey. Just 4 miles away, aside the Glaslyn Estuary, the bustling harbour town of Pothmadog is alive with an exciting marina and an array of individual shops and restaurants, whilst being home to the historic Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Heritage Railway. The picturesque cliffs and coves and enormous Black Rock Beach makes for an idyllic day out, whilst the fabulous Italianate village of Portmeirion is a must. With the medieval castles at nearby Criccieth, Harlech and Caernarfon and a host of excellent walking and cycling opportunities within easy reach, this is an ideal location for enjoying all that Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula have to offer. Several beautiful sandy beaches can be found within a 10-20 minute drive. Harlech beach where the golden sands are 4 miles long, backed by a fantastic dune system and one of North Wales’ best golf courses (Royal St David’s), Borth-y-Gest, a hidden gem, Shell Island, Black Rock Sands, and we can’t forget Porthdinllaen, where a walk around the picturesque peninsula takes you to the Ty Coch Inn on the beach, rated one of the top 10 best beach bars in the world. There is an abundance of great beaches on the Llyn Peninsula including Porth Oer Beach, known as Whistling Sands due to the way the sand “squeaks” under your feet which is also a great spot for surfing/body boarding and a great beach café.
