Tadcaster, a historic market town, is a great starting point for exploring the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Wonderful walks can be had along the banks of the River Wharfe, as well as cycling, climbing, fishing, boating, golfing, or simply relaxing in the fresh air and beautiful surroundings. The world-famous beers brewed in the three breweries located in Tadcaster are renowned for their high quality water. John Smith’s, founded in 1758, is one of the oldest breweries in the United Kingdom and is the subject of popular and frequent tours. Harrogate, a spa town, is also in the area, as are the historic cathedral cities of Ripon and York, as well as the great stately homes of Castle Howard and Harewood House, the Cistercian Abbeys of Fountains, Rievaulx, and Jervaulx, and the castles of Middleham, Bolton, and Richmond.
