The attractive, unspoilt rural village of Great Strickland is ideally placed for exploring the Lake District and Eden Valley. The village offers a pub, which serves good food and the nearby market town of Penrith has a good selection of shops and restaurants, a cinema and swimming baths. The Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre is only 2 miles away and well worth a visit, or why not cruise on one of Ullswater’s motor yachts, which leave hourly from Pooley Bridge, only 5 miles away? The Rheged Discovery Centre in Penrith is the “largest grass covered building in the country” or you might like to visit Dalemain Historic House featured in a television production of Jane Eyre. For those who love the outdoors, the well known “Coast to Coast” walk runs close to Great Strickland and walks abound in the nearby National Park.
