This quaint County Durham village sits in Weardale in the heart of the North Pennines AONB, an area known for its excellent bird watching, cycling and walking. As well as two friendly village pubs, one serving food, St John’s Chapel offers a Post Office, a shop and a couple of cafés. The nearby market town of Stanhope sits on the fringes of the AONB and offers a wider choice of amenities and an outdoor pool. The magnificent city of Durham is slightly further afield but well worth a visit, laced with tremendous architecture and much to see and do.
