Barnbrook, Carperby

Situated close to well-known Aysgarth Falls and the impressive Bolton Castle – which dates back to 1379 – the idyllic Wensleydale village of Carperby is set within excellent walking country. During the 17th Century this charming little town was an important centre for Quakerism. Today, the largest building in the village is still the classically styled Friends Meeting House, which overlooks the market cross and village green. There is also a pub serving good food as well as an excellent range of amenities in the nearby market town of Leyburn. The villages of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale are both easily accessible from Carperby and make for lovely days out whilst the surrounding countryside provides a wealth of walking and cycling paths amidst the charming scenery. Visitors can also enjoy excellent bird watching in the area.
