Brierley Hill is situated between the historic town of Stourbridge and the larger town of Dudley and is ideally located for exploring the historic counties of Shropshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire. Today Brierley Hill is known for the popular shopping centre known as the Merry Hill Centre but it also provides visitors with peaceful walks in its large parks and nature reserve, bike and walking trails along the Stourbridge and Dudley Canal and many excellent bars and restaurants to choose from along the canal side waterfront. Nearby, the historic Stourbridge, famous for its glass making, has many pleasant parks, specialist shops and a good variety of pubs and restaurants in the area. Close by is Bewdley, once described as “the most perfect Georgian town in Worcestershire”. Bewdley sits on the banks of the River Severn, close to the medieval Wyre Forest with its many walks and cycle routes, and offers much to delight visitors, with a good choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants along the riverside, many tiny shops, antique and craft galleries. Also close by are some of the best attractions in the country, including The Severn Valley Railway, the West Midlands Safari Park, Cadbury World and the Black Country Living Museum. The area offers excellent walking, with Monarchs Way and the Staffordshire Way close by, panoramic views at the top of the Clent Hills and Kinver Edge, or for the less energetic, pretty canal side walks along the Staffordshire and Worcestershire or Stourbridge canals, both close by and a haven for wildlife. Further afield there are a wealth of country parks, great houses, museums and picturesque villages, as well as easy access to The Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge Gorge, the beautiful Malvern Hills, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare. This historic region of England has something for everyone at all times of the year!
