Long Preston is a picturesque Yorkshire Dales village in Ribblesdale, 12 miles from Skipton and 4 miles from Settle. To the north are the fells, moors, and valleys of the Dales; to the south are the wetlands of the Ribble Valley and Bowland. The village has large, tree-lined village greens, footpaths to the surrounding hills, and two excellent pubs with first-rate cuisine. The village’s railway station connects to the Settle-Carlisle line, which crosses some of the country’s most beautiful upland scenery. Settle is a bustling market town with a weekly market dominated by the Shambles, a 3-story building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There are restaurants, pubs, and a pool.
