Stanhope is a small market town in Country Durham, England, situated on the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town has a number of historic castles, the most notable being Stanhope Castle, built in 1798, suggested to be on a medieval site. Offering a small selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets, with a local museum and art gallery to explore.
