The small, sleepy village of East Cowton lies seven miles from the bustling market town of Northallerton. Surrounded by open farmland, the village has an excellent local gastro pub and a small village shop. The area is ideal for walking and cycling, with quiet country lanes and a network of public footpaths. Nearby Northallerton hosts twice weekly markets, lined along the main street, along with some lovely restaurants and tea rooms, including the famous Bettys tea room, renowned for its afternoon teas. With many independent retailers, as well as an upmarket department store, there is plenty of choice for everyone. From Northallerton station, the high speed train takes 20 minutes to York, an excellent way to visit this historic city. East Cowton is a superb base from which to explore both the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales and the stunning scenery of the North York Moors, whilst the east coast resorts of Whitby and Saltburn are a very easy drive.
