Located on the Yorkshire coast, 14 miles north of Whitby is the small community of Loftus. It was once an alum-mining community and now features terraced residences, rustic stone cottages, and even some stately stone manors. The lengthy and bustling main street features numerous businesses, including restaurants, bars, banks, and the city hall. A recreation centre concealing a first-rate pool waits just off the main drag. The picturesque fishing communities of Runswick Bay and Staithes, the latter of which is a famous spot for artists, are both within easy driving distance of Loftus. Located just four miles to the north, the posh spa town of Saltburn is home to a golf club and a long pier that stretches out over the expansive beaches. Both the beautiful countryside of the North Yorkshire Moors and the Jurassic fossil seashore are easily accessible from here.
