Whitney-on-Wye is a pretty Herefordshire village nestling on the banks of the River Wye, close to the Welsh border. Many walks can be enjoyed from the village with the Herefordshire Trail, Wye Valley Walk and Offa’s Dyke Path all passing close by. The whole area is renowned for its countryside, which provides cycling, bird watching, fishing and canoeing in the nearby River Wye. Nearby, the medieval village of Eardisley boasts many early 16th century black and white cottages, two pubs and village shop. The ancient city of Hereford lies just over half an hour’s drive away, with its cathedral housing its famous chained library and Mappa Mundi.
