It’s impossible to visit the Lake District without stopping in at one of the Lake District’s twin towns, Bowness or Windermere. There are a wide variety of shops and restaurants in both towns, as well as a boat excursion to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium, and Beatrix Potter’s ‘Hill Top House’ at Sawrey, which is located in Ambleside. It’s only a short drive to Grizedale Forest Park, where you’ll find a variety of activities such as scenic walks, mountain biking, and the “Go Ape” adventure park. For those seeking a more exhilarating experience, there are other National Trust estates in the area, as well as numerous opportunities for water sports.
