Richmond sits on a prominent hilltop at the entrance to Swaledale and north of the River Swale. This ancient market town still features classic cobbled streets, narrow alleys and a wealth of character, with the town expanding around the Norman castle which dates back to 1701. Visit the weekly market or the monthly farmers’ market as well as heading to many of the pubs, shops and cafés dotted about.
