The charming town of Grasmere, located in the heart of the Lake District National Park, is best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a location he once characterised as “the most loveliest spot that man hath found.” Any trip to Grasmere must involve a stop at The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, where the Wilson family has been producing gingerbread for over 60 years. There are also a number of stores, restaurants, a church dating back to the 13th century. Every August, Grasmere Sports takes place, where you can see people participate in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Ambleside and Lake Winderemere are only five miles away, and both have shops, bars, and restaurants, as well as the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District.
