The small scattered hamlet of Pennington is located on the stunning Lake District Peninsula, where hills and beautiful walking country form the perfect backdrop. Visitors can locate the start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths here, and refuel at the good twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn. The nearby ancient market town of Ulverston offers a good selection of restaurants, pubs, shops, a leisure centre and a cinema. It is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world, because it is here that Stan Laurel was born. The National Park, sandy beaches and birdwatching opportunities of the Furness Coast are close by. There is plenty for the family to see and do, including the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Muncaster Castle and the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway.
