The seaside community of Carbis Bay is well renowned for its magnificent stretch of pure white sand, which is only a short drive from iconic St Ives. The beach feels almost subtropical, with turquoise waters and protected conditions, and is ideal for a good old-fashioned day by the sea. The Ocean Sports Centre is located on the beach, so if sunbathing isn’t your thing, rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard and get out on the ocean instead. Alternatively, why not book a Spa day at the charming hotel that overlooks the beach and has a great patio where you can sip cocktails while basking in the Cornish sunshine? Carbis Bay features a few local businesses and restaurants, as well as a fish and chip shop and a railway branch line. The train journey from Carbis Bay to St Ives is one of the most beautiful in the country, and St Ives itself is a terrific day out with plenty of galleries to see.
