The market town of Hailsham is settled in a picturesque part of East Sussex. This location is particularly popular due to the famous Cuckoo Trail host to an array of flora and fauna. An interesting 14 mile surfaced trail for walkers and cyclists, mainly traffic free, through the beautiful countryside along the old railway line linking Heathfield, Horam, Hailsham, Polegate and Hampden Park. There are benches, picnic tables and sculptures to look out for and lots of opportunities to pick up refreshments a short distance from the route.
The quaint village of Alfriston boasts chocolate-box-pretty pubs, boutique shops, medieval buildings and glorious countryside views. Take a stroll along the banks of the Cuckmere River while you’re here. Closer to home you can explore 800 years of Sussex history at Michelham Priory and gardens, Abbots Wood nearby provides excellent walking routes and Wellshurst Golf Club is popular with golfers. If travelling with children, be sure to pay a visit to Knockhatch Adventure Park and meet the family of owls and farmyard animals. Hailsham is an ideal centrally located place to discover the many attractions in East Sussex.
