The village of Feltwell is situated on the Norfolk/Suffolk/Cambridgeshire borders and is one of the largest villages in Norfolk. Feltwell offers a good selection of local amenities, including village stores, a Post Office and pubs. This area of Norfolk is known as ‘The Brecks’, a unique landscape of beautiful Scots Pine forests, heathlands, wetlands, chalk streams, meres and pingo ponds. The Brecks is an outstanding area for wildlife conservation and boasts several nature reserves, country parks and visitor centres, which offer activities for the whole family. Thetford Forest High Lodge Centre is the largest lowland pine forest in the UK, and is an excellent place to walk and cycle. Just 6 miles from Feltwell on the Suffolk border is Lakenheath, where aviation enthusiasts can see American jets at USAF Lakenheath take off and land from its watch areas. Close by is the English Heritage owned Neolithic flint mines at Grimes Graves, and the 125 acre reconstructed Anglo-Saxon village at West Stow. Museums can be found at Brandon, Thetford, Mildenhall and Swaffham and country houses include the National Trust owned Oxburgh Hall and Euston Hall. The area also has two local small breweries and St George’s Distillery – England’s only whiskey distillery. Feltwell is an ideal base for exploring all that this region has to offer.
