Ambleside, located near the northern extremity of Lake Windermere, England’s biggest lake, is an excellent location for seeing the middle Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley only a short drive away. There is lots to do here, including cruises, boat tours, and watersports on Lake Windermere, as well as several shops, restaurants, and bars to satisfy all tastes in the community. The parkland at Waterhead gives excellent views along the lake and a short strip of beach, while a walk in the opposite way, following Stock Ghyll through woods, leads to the captivating cascade of Stock Ghyll Force.
