The small cathedral town of Dunblane rests in Stirlingshire. The Allan Water river runs through the centre and its main attraction is its cathedral, parts of which date back to the 11th century. Nearby, the Victorian spa town of Bridge of Allan rests at the foot of the Ochil Hills, offering picturesque walking trails through scenic rolling countryside, and has a history dating back to the Iron Age. Today, the town is prosperous and home to a golf club, a selection of shops and restaurants and Stirling University. Much of central Scotland is within easy reach; Dunblane boasts great rail links to Glasgow, Edinburgh and St Andrews, while Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park a short drive to the north.
