This coastal resort is 5 miles from Porthmadog and is sometimes called the “Pearl of Wales on the coasts of Snowdonia.” The town’s 13th-century castle dominates the skyline and offers views of Tremadog Bay and Snowdonia. Two beaches are great for watersports, and Snowdonia National Park is nearby for hikers and cyclists. Stroll the beaches, watch porpoises in the surf, or relax in pubs, restaurants, and tea rooms with Cadwalader’s ice cream. Portmeirion’s Italianate gardens, the Ffestiniog railway at Porthmadog, Harlech Castle, Caernarfon Castle, and the Llyn Peninsula’s beaches and golf courses are all easily accessible.
