Rhoscolyn is a small settlement with a church and elementary school located three miles from Trearddur Bay on Holy Island. With its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and motor boats, and sheltered cove, Rhoscolyn’s beach is a popular family destination throughout the summer. It also has a good pub on the lane leading to the beach, which is well-known for its gourmet food. In addition, there are numerous cliff-top walks and a plethora of animals, including seals, can be observed on the headland. For those who don’t mind driving a little farther out to the village of Valley (about two miles away), you’ll also find a post office, chemist, and several places to eat. And just a few miles away, on the island’s western coast, is the charming seaside resort of Trearddur Bay. If you’re looking for more than just shops and restaurants in the town of Trearddur Bay, you’ll find a wide selection of attractions in Holyhead, including a very well-equipped leisure centre and a marina, as well as the second-longest breakwater in the world. Summertime activities include watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing, and horseback riding, as well as golfing at the superb Holyhead 18-hole links course, and birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve. This is a great place to visit because there is so much to do!
