Situated on the southern shores of sheltered Cleggan Bay, some 7 miles from Clifden, the picturesque village of Cleggan, County Galway, is both the centre of the sea fishing industry in north Connemara and the ferry port for the beautiful Inishbofin Island. The island, located 6 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean, is renowned for its fantastic beaches and scenery and is a haven for walkers, divers and birdwatchers. Just to the east of Cleggan, there is an amazing collection of prehistoric monuments including tombs, standing stones and pre-bog field walks.
